Minimum Wage Changes for 2018

2018 is right around the corner, and while most of the current focus is on the federal tax plan and its effect on payroll taxes, many states and localities are set to enact new minimum wage laws beginning January 1st with even more laws going in to effect mid-year.

Below is a list of the new minimum pay rates that go in to effect for the new year affecting most household employment arrangements (ie minimum wage for tipped employees, larger employers, etc are not included below):

Alaska - $9.84

Arizona - $10.50

California (for employers with fewer than 26 employees) - $10.50

Colorado - $10.20

Florida - $8.25

Hawaii - $10.10

Maine - $10.00

Michigan - $10.00

Minnesota - $9.65

Missouri - $7.85

Montana - $8.30

New Jersey - $8.60

New York City (for employers with fewer than 11 employees) - $12.00 per hour

Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties (NY) - $11.00

New York state - $9.70

Ohio - $8.30

Rhode Island - $10.10

South Dakota - $8.85

Vermont - $10.50

Washington state - $11.50
